Presenting: "A Schizophrenic Will: A Story of Madness, A Story of
Hope" by William Jiang, MLS

I would like to present to you the autobiography of a young male
medical librarian working at the world-famous New York State
Psychiatric Institute in NYC who is in recovery from schizophrenia.
The book chronicles the amazing transformational story of a mind which
was like a hopelessly cracked mirror made to reflect truly once
again-- a descent into insanity and back to health. It is knee-
slappingly humorous in places, gravely serious and sad in others.  The
tale is primarily a story of hope, recovery, and resilience that needs
to be shared with the world for the message of hope that it carries
and for the recognition of the common humanity that lives beneath the
surface of all people who suffer from a mental illness.

The book's unputdownable first chapter may be read on Amazon.com for

Recommendations for A Schizophrenic Will include:

A talented ambitious young student is afflicted by the most dread
mental illness in the prime of his life. This first Pictures of People">person account
describes this all too common occurrence but what is unique is how he
reacts to this adversity and his courageous and successful journey to
recovery. Will Jiang's impressive and moving story is reminiscent of
other similar first person accounts of personal struggle and triumph
over mental illness including Elyn Saks' The Center Cannot Hold and
Temple Grandin's Thinking In Pictures: and Other Reports from My Life
with Autism.  Will's story will be similarly informative and
inspirational to everyone who has the good fortune to read it.

Director of the New York State Psychiatric Institute

With an incredible strength of will William Jiang describes his life
dealing with one of the hardest conditions to live with:
Schizophrenia. Again and again he fights against the disease and
despite all odds secures a professional career and fulfilled life. A
must read for any person coping with Schizophrenia, whether you are a
sufferer, relative, friend, physician or a scientist working on mental
disorders.

Will Jiang's experiences as detailed in his book are a wonder to read
and can help you to understand schizophrenia better. I highly
recommend it.

This inspirational story is a great read for anybody, but family and
friends of those suffering with schizophrenia will especially find it
useful for learning what it is like to live with schizophrenia.

This a wonderful book that I recommend to all people with Mental
Illness. Will writes in a way that helps you identify with the main
character, taking the reader on a journey of what it is like to be
schizophrenic. It is such a personal story and very touching. It has
helped me to learn a great deal, including ways of prevention. I often
reference the book professionaly as a Senior Occupational Therapist
when working with patients with schizophrenia at New York State
Psychiatric Institute.

This is a fantastic story about challanging battle against mental
illness. I think that an average reader can easily comprehend the
struggle of living with schizophrenia and overcomimg the most
debilitating symptoms. Great, moving story and a valuable resource -
one that I will often utilize in my clinical work with psychiatric
population.

I found this book to be one of great courage and inspiration for

those with mental illness, but any support group in general.
