I always like to imagine the Vikings hanging out at a bonfire, getting ready to slap together a great Snorra Edda type ode or epic in rhyme memorializing their exploits, when one of the Vikings says, wait, I gotta get a piece of paper and a pen, while he furiously tries to jot down his thoughts in blank verse on a piece of parchment.  But he can't see the parchment because it's too dark out, and if he gets too close to the fire, not only will his parchment go up in flames, so too will his eyebrows. Good writing (none of which is represented above because I am just thowin' it down), starts with the ability to analyze and order thoughts and concepts.  Words and sentences are the tools.  The use thereof is the artform, whether written or spoken.
