Things like family protection, neighborly love, sharing of food, and many more don't meet the evolutionary critirea which is material in essence. I'm not so sure those things are not evolutionary. Isn't cooperation and love shack">harmony beneficial to the survival of the species as a while? I'd argue that self-preservation, as in dog-eat-dog survival of the fittest, is the most rudimentary stage of evolution. I would think a fully evolved species would recognize that working together for the common good would ultimately be the most beneficial course of action in terms of preserving the species. I think that can be demonstrated in the the behavior of some of the higher-intelligence mammals like apes and dolphins. A brain disease would be cancer, but would it be anger, hatred, love, caring? Does social grouping make an evolutionary statement? Curious.
