How did everyone manage over Christmas and new year?
I managed to be pretty good, mostly due to not having too much food in the
house and sending extras away with people.

New Year New Start eh? Well we've got to try and be good .

Anyone actually there?

Hello SP!

Ned here.  Long Time OA'er (7 yrs.) Longtime Recovery (7yrs.)
but I still do 4 -5 meetings a week.

In reading Rushlights post above... it reminded me that I have
come a long way. Before I was FAT FAT FAT... I was depressed
to the Max and would spend days in a funk.  Growth and self
improvement take a long time sometimes.  :o(

I finally had my spiritual awakening that they talk about in the
12th step, but it wasn't anything like most people have.

I simply came to an understanding of the  importance of seeing
other people's points of view. (NOT AGREEING WITH  THEM NECESSARILY)
but the value of understanding how they see the world. Frankly...
above that it is healthy for me to be very skeptical about the nature
or possibility of any GOD in the Universe.  I am stongly agnostic and
basicly an atheist as far as the majority of the world is concerned.
That, and disciplined in Buddhism, Cognitive Behavior Theory and
Neuro-Linguistic Programming.  That is about all I need to get by on.
(That... and a few friends and the love and admiration of a sweet dog)

For when I can understand where a person is coming from... what
perceptual frames of reference they use to see and judge their own
actions and those of others - then i have a better means of relating
to them and ultimately either compassionately relating to them or
INFLUENCING them, or both.

My issues with food were golden over the holidays... Not only that
but I engaged EVERYONE at the holiday parties and even attended
two holiday parties in the community and had a blast.

I received a gift of a 2# box of See's Chocolates and promptly
took it unopened and regifted it with my neighbors who have
come to expect the knock on the door every Christmas night.

My abstinence is eating out of a blender (For 7 years now) and I
am healthier and fitter than I was in high school - 40 years ago.
I eat one abstinent meal in the evening, or have another whey protein
smoothie at dinner and then split a bag of microwave popcorn every
night or so with my dog Rosie.  I buy Whey Protein Powder in 44# bags
on the Internet and am going to buy a 50# bag of powdered milk next
month.  With coco or other spices and a bit of Splenda it makes for a
refreshing and FILLING way to eat that leaves NO HUNGER PANGS til
the next meal.  .75 liters of water.  1/2 cup powdered milk.  1/2 -
5/8 cup of whey protein powder and spices or bakers coco to taste
with 3 packets of Splenda.

Life is good for me as a skinny fit man.  I got sick and tired of
being sick and tired and decided to not tolerate being fat and
sluggish anymore. I have lost 90 lbs and kept it off. I now bicycle as
many miles a week as I like and my physicals from the Dr. are all that
of a much younger and fitter person.

Here is wishing you and anyone else that posts here, well!
I will try to stop back in once in a while. I remember you posting
here about 3 years ago but frankly... everytime I download from
this NG, all I get mostly is come-ons for movie or some such.

We should reclaim this for fatties and former fatties alike and
make it thrive.  Some people may not even know about OA.
