Getting Past the Icy Exterior to the Tastiness Hidden InsideFrom: kddxajrkklnd@gmail.com (Preston Wilson) on a plate and sit back while it thaws out. The refrigerator temperature should be somewhere between 35' and 40'F so that bacteria or any other harmful organisms do not have an opportunity to grow. For this reason defrosting fish in the refrigerator is the safest method. The main problem with this option is that it requires anywhere from six to twenty four hours for the fish to defrost depending on the size. For each pound of fish you should allot six to eight hours for defrosting. When making dishes with frozen fish it is best to plan ahead so there is enough time to defrost. If you cannot wait a whole day for your fish to defrost then there are other methods that eat up a little less time though are a little riskier in terms of potential bacteria growth. Placing the fish in cold water is a faster way of defrosting fish than putting it in the refrigerator. While it is faster, you must be very careful to do everything right in order to avoid spoiling the fish. After you have filled a large bowl with cold tap water, place the frozen fish in a sealable bag and place it in the water. You must pay close attention and be sure to change the water every thirty minutes so that it does not warm up too much too quickly, otherwise you open the door for bacteria to come in and infect the meat. The interesting thing about frozen fish is that it actually does not have to be defrosted before being cooked; you can throw it directly in the pan if you like. Cooking time must be increased of course but the thawing out process takes place right there on the stove. Defrosting fish can be a frustrating task due to the large amounts of time it calls for, but the long hours are necessary in order for the fish to remain safe to eat. It would be a shame for fine fresh fish brought in from Alaska to go to ruin just because someone could not wait a few hours for the fish to defrost properly. A little patience and attention can have you eating like a king and feeling great. Over 200 Low Calorie Recipes for the HCG Phase -
