We don't have a kitchen at the moment. Bless George Foreman and his grill.
I must put some more pictures on my website, and perhaps a photo of our
current cooking area in the laundry area.
.
<nods, enthusiastically> Oh, please do! I have you bookmarked.

I've added a couple of pics.

Oh, fascinating things, drains.
How old is the house? is this the first time the ground has been rooted up?
Never know what might turn up.

Back in the 1980s when we had our extension built, no-one knew where the drains were because apparently those plans disappeared when part of the Guildhall burned down. When our Storage Building">Building Control chappy turned up, he had an outline of the house with a curved line which apparently represented where the sewer pipe was. We think there was some creative thinking going on there. Fortunately, the sewer pipe runs from next door, under us, and thence to the public sewer, and thus is a shared sewer; and as the houses predate <whatever> it's the water company's problem should it get expensive.

Loud applause. Penguins, rule, eh?

I will never forget the evening my Richard came back from college (first
stage) and announced he had come top in the touch-typing exam.
Sounds normal enough until you start to wonder at the standard of the rest
of the class because the lad hasn't got any fingers on his right hand.

Unable to peel a potato, open a tin or wash-up (oh, Mummmmm!... wail...) but
could fillet a computer and build meccano things to make you boggle.
lads....

Offspring, eh? Give them an inch and they'll take a mile - and so often will achieve whatever it is that's important to /them/ for as long as the system allows. There was a young lad in my Richard's class in primary school who was born with no fingers on one hand. That lad did well in that small, nurturing, primary school, but thereafter everyone went in different directions for secondary school and I have no idea how things worked out for him.

Did we ever have a conversation about our sons having the same name? I can't remember.
