Karen Sypher ale wins at State Fair

From: garrison@efn.org (Garrison Hilliard)

'It didn't win on taste,' says Kentucky State Fair public relations
chief

The judges have found in favor of Karen Sypher.

Well, at the State Fair, at least.

A label featuring Sypher?s photo and several jokes about her infamous
affair with University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino ? on
a beer called Blackmail Ale ? has snared a Kentucky State Fair blue
ribbon in the Homebrew category.

?Blackmail Ale, 7 Years Old,? the label reads. ?A bitter brew
available only at your local Italian eatery. 0% Dignity by Volume.?

?It didn?t win on taste,? said Edward Browne, the fair?s director of
public relations and media. ?The category was Humor/Satirical, and the
label could represent a political or current event.?

Sypher, of course, was convicted earlier this month of extorting
Pitino and lying to the FBI about the affair they had at a Crescent
Hill restaurant.

The label was created by Louisville homebrewer Greg Rosenberger, who
said that,

?With all the media and everything, I just sat down one afternoon, put
my mind to it and was able to come up with a pretty good idea.?

The label also carries a warning: ?Consuming this beverage may lead to
incarceration in the United States federal prison system.?

Sypher is expected to be sentenced in late October
