There are no markings on it to say what it is made of. It's most likely stainless steel polished,I don't think it's sterling, just don't know. The inside has a dull finish to it and some stuff on the sides, that makes me think at one time it was lined with something. The lid screws on, and as you can see the beveled glass is cracked. I know this piece is very old, my father in law said it belonged to his father, and so I think it's got to be from the early 1900's.
