Re: OK Experts - Can a .22 LR travel 1.3 miles

From: zxcvbob@charter.net (zxcvbob)

I don't see anywhere that it says a .22LR, maybe it was a .223 or
..22-250, but in any case, the victim is lying.  Sitting on his
tractor, and the bullet hit his pancreas and lodged in his chest?
How does a bullet have an *upward* trajectory after traveling over a
mile?  (or even 100 yards?)

I like the last sentence in the article, "We checked; a .22-caliber
projectile can travel approximately one mile in a straight line."
That's some good investigatin' right there.  If it was a .22LR, it
would have to have been fired up at a pretty steep angle to travel
that far, about 30 degrees, and it would have very little energy
left.  A .223 is more likely, but even then Domin would have had to
be standing on his head on the tractor, not seated.

Not trying to excuse shooting over the top of the berm, but I think
the shot came from the nearby wooded lot, or his wife shot hit
with a .22 pistol.
